Introduction to the Fundamentals of Weathering

Speaker: Oscar Cordo, Standards Manager

Oscar Cordo is Manager, Technical Standards, with Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC, located in Chicago, Illinois.  Out of his Miami, Florida office, Oscar coordinates all standards committee activities for the Atlas US sales territories.  He is an active participating member of SAE, ASTM, AATCC, and various other committees related to weathering and durability, serving as Secretary for ASTM Committee G03 on Durability of Materials and Chairman of ASTM G0.03.01 on Compliance Issues for Weathering.  Mr. Cordo serves as a US delegate to ISO TC 61 on Plastics and ISO TC 35 on Coatings, actively involved in the development of international weathering standards.

With over 20 years of experience in all aspects of weathering and lightfastness of materials, Mr. Cordo has extensive knowledge and experience on the application of weathering technologies on different materials, having past experience in all areas of Atlas’ natural and accelerated weathering laboratory, Atlas Weathering Services.  His academic credentials include degrees in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University, and in Management/Computer Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University.
