• April 2006 Meeting

• May 2006 Sink or Swim  - Last year, the annual Sink or Swim Coatings Symposium was held on campus May 23 & 24th 2006 in the University Union and the Martin Center.  This year there were four speakers invited from outside of the Cleveland Coating Society to give plenary lectures.  The technical meeting had a total of 18 presentations and was well attended with over 150 people.   There was also an excellent showing of exhibitors which filled the University Union Ballroom (55 exhibitor booths) for total of 240 people in attendance.  Over 30 students, post-doctoral fellows, and Professors from University of Cincinnati, Ohio State University, and the University of Akron contributed to the conference.  There were many excellent talks with the first day ending with a Speakers Reception at the elegant Martin Center.  During both the first and second days coating workshops were held including: 1) Fundamentals of Coatings, 2) Corrosion, 3) Catalysis, and 4) Linking Creativity with Commercialization.  There was also a tour of both Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering facilities, which was much appreciated by the attendees.  Overall, the Symposium was a stunning success, with an universal impression of technical excellence, state-of-the-art facilities, and beautiful surroundings for networking.  It is anticipated that next year the Symposium will be held again the University of Akron May 22 & 23 2007.
